As good online as you are in person.

I spent 15+ years at Nike, making sure their websites worked right everywhere they launched. Now I do that for one business at a time.

For salons, shops, restaurants, rentals, and trades. Businesses where how it looks is part of how it sells, and where your time is better spent running the place.

Nothing gets built until you've approved it. The decisions that shape the site get settled first, in writing. In it with you. We work the design together, from how it looks to how it gets found in search. After launch I'm still here.

Vin de Vin

A Squarespace site the owner built himself and carried for years. The platform has since moved a full generation on, so we rebuilt on the current one and used the opportunity to refresh the experience.

How it works

We figure out what it needs to say before we build it.

What you lead with, who you're talking to, what to leave out. We settle those together first, and I write them into a short brief that we review, mark up, and finalize together. Everything after that is building what you already approved.

Weeks 1-2

Discovery

We work out the decisions that shape everything else: what your business leads with, who it's talking to, what it has to prove, and what to leave off. I also collect the raw material: photos, logo, copy, color palettes, and access to your domain and search listings. Stock photography is a last resort; what you have is probably better than you think.

Weeks 2-4

Design and sign-off

I design against the brief: layout, type, color, and how your brand carries. You review it on a live preview and mark it up the same way, and I make the changes before anything gets built.

Weeks 3-6

Build and launch

I build it, and test it the same way I tested enterprise software: every page, every device, until I can't find anything left to fix. Then I launch it and hand you the keys: logins, domain, and a walkthrough of how to update it yourself.

These are working estimates, not fixed dates. The phases overlap, and the clock starts once your photos, copy, and access are in hand. Waiting on materials is the one thing that reliably pushes a launch back.

Optional add-on

Ongoing care, when you want it

After launch, I can keep the site handled: updates, small changes, and someone who answers when you write. Start or stop it whenever. See ongoing care pricing.

You should know what this costs before you email me.

These three are for a site of your own: built to your brand, hosted independently, and yours outright. Old site or no site, both land here. If you'd rather be on a platform like Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress, there are lighter options below.

Presence

$1,500–2,500

  • Discovery, brand direction, and a brief you sign off on
  • Type, color, and logo use set to your brand
  • 3–5 page site with contact form
  • Your photos curated, edited, and optimized
  • Fast on a phone, and set up so people can find you on Google
  • Tested end to end, every page and every device

On a platform

If you don't need a site built from scratch.

Some businesses are already on Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress and need it to stop looking like 2015. Others aren't on one yet and want to be able to edit it themselves.

The tradeoff cuts both ways. You get more day-to-day control, editing pages and swapping photos without waiting on me. You get less at the other end, where layout, type, and how far your brand can be pushed stop at whatever the platform allows. The brand work itself is the same as any other project.

Refresh

$500–1,000

Your site stays where it is. I restyle and reorganize it so it reads like a current business.

  • Restyled to your brand, using the platform's own controls
  • Navigation and page structure tidied
  • Images resized, compressed, and stripped of location data
  • Titles, descriptions, and share cards fixed

Good fit: the bones are fine, the look is tired.

New template site

$1,000–2,000

You aren't on a platform yet. I build you a new one on Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress, designed to your brand from the first page.

  • Platform and plan chosen with you, before anything is bought
  • Built to your brand, not left on a stock theme
  • Your photos and copy shaped into a real structure
  • Domain, email, and search listings set up and connected

Good fit: starting from nothing, and you want to run it yourself after.

Platform rebuild

$1,200–2,500

A full rebuild on the platform, current generation, designed to your brand rather than to a theme.

  • Rebuilt on the current version, structure reconsidered
  • Styled to your brand, not a stock template
  • Every old link redirected so nothing you've earned breaks
  • Built to the plan tier you pick, so the design never dictates the bill

Good fit: years of pages built up on a template the platform has since retired. See the Vin de Vin rebuild →

For a lot of businesses, editing your own site on a Tuesday night matters more than a bespoke design does, and for some it doesn't. Tell me which you are and I'll say which way I'd go.

Ongoing care

Every build can include ongoing care: I watch the site and make the small changes you need. Some owners prefer a monthly check-in; others need hands-on support. I scale it to what yours needs.

Scaled to needfrom a monthly check-in up

Every range above is a range for a reason: I'll quote your job once I know what it involves, and that quote is what you pay.

About
Photo pending A real headshot goes here,
not an avatar, not stock.

I'm Michael, and I'm the whole company.

For 15+ years I did QA on software at Nike: catching things before customers did, everywhere the product shipped. I build and test the sites I deliver the same way.

A $99 site from a marketplace gig can look beautiful on launch day. The difference here is the thinking that happens before anything gets designed.

If your business works in more than one language, I've done that too: localization and internationalization were a large part of those years at Nike.

The standard doesn't scale down.
